Strangely enough, in the information about the drug, it is reported that they do not know exactly why this drug would help with ADHD.<\/p><p>Users of methylphenidate are generally satisfied with the drug. Research shows that three quarters are better able to concentrate and have more peace in their heads. This allows them to perform better at work or study. Side effects centre Lareb and patient association Impuls &amp; Woortblind therefore conducted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pw.nl\/nieuws\/2015\/drie-kwart-adhd-patienten-ervaart-bijwerkingen\">survey<\/a> among 848 people aged 16 and older who use ADHD medication.<\/p><p>80% of those surveyed were taking methylphenidate. Well-known brands are Ritalin and Concerta. The most frequently mentioned side effects were:<\/p><ul><li>Palpitations<\/li><li>Reduced appetite<\/li><li>Feeling of nervousness<\/li><li>Apathy<\/li><\/ul><p>Less frequently mentioned side effects were:<\/p><ul><li>Depression<\/li><li>Increased blood pressure<\/li><li>Nausea<\/li><li>Sleep disorders<\/li><\/ul><p>In the leaflet of ADHD medication there is always a list of side effects and the symptoms mentioned above are also mentioned. While these side effects are annoying enough, there are also side effects that can have serious consequences for your health.<\/p><p>These <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apotheek.nl\/medicijnen\/methylfenidaat#wat-zijn-mogelijke-bijwerkingen\">side effects<\/a> are very rare (occurring in less than 1 person in 100):<\/p><ul><li>An increased risk of cardiac arrhythmia, where you may experience sudden dizziness or brief loss of consciousness.<\/li><li>High blood pressure (sometimes permanent)<\/li><li>Dejection, irritability<\/li><li>Confusion<\/li><li>Worsening of tics<\/li><li>Shortness of breath<\/li><li>Depression<\/li><li>Increased risk of stroke<\/li><li>In case of hypersensitivity to the drug: rash, itching, joint pain, hives.
